An inauspicious, and frankly juvenile, way to end the Letter B, but you can't argue with alphabetical order.
The level of humour on offer here is probably well summed up by the fact that cut'n'pasters Broken Penis Orchestra is just one man. The jokes don't get much better than that. One vocal sample goes, "More noise please", and is followed by, of all things, a noise sample. K-razee.
Other samples I spotted were of Johnny Depp as Hunter S. Thompson, and a cheeky Beatles drum beat from the opening to The End. There is no over-arching structure or purpose, just a restless and relentless jumping between fragments of ideas.
I'm generally a fan of experimental recordings that don't let little things like melody or structure get in the way, but this is neither as highly experimental in its cut-ups as, say Ahlzagailzehguh, or anywhere near as funny with its humour as Cassette Boy.
Sections from B2 get processed into something vaguely interesting and sitar-driven, but sadly it doesn't last.
I did once meet the guy that ran Hypnagogia records, and he gave me a copy of GOG1201, their first 12" single, and a CD called Hybrids. It was all ambient stuff, but very nice, as was he. I still have the record, but it's filed with the Compilations, which means it's some years away, review-wise.
