I'm finding this quite confusing, regarding the tracklisting for this single. Both here, the official Earworm site, and here, an official A.M.P. Studio discography, it states that this single is one-sided, and that track, you would presume, is called 'misstype dolittle'. However, the 7" I own has two tracks, one on each side, thus:
1: justlikeit
2: sceneseason
Someone should set the record straight, if you'll pardon the pun (is that a pun, or just self-referential? Never mind).
Justlikeit credits music/words to R.F.W. This also had my brow furrowing, as there are no discernible lyrics on this track. They must be lower in the mix than even the vocals on Slip. In fact, most things on this track, including some lovely synth lines, are lower in the mix than the distorted drum loop that comes in about half a minute through, and ruins was what promising to be a nice shoegazery ambient piece.
Luckily, the distorted drums do not show up on the B-side, and sceneseason is a nice piece of shoegazery ambient music, complete with samples of weather, which is always good. It's no Walter Carlos, but then nothing else is, not even Walter any more.
I've just noticed that "Colorful clouds for acoustics 12" is printed on the record's label. And it would appear from discogs that whenever I purchased this, the wrong record was put in the sleeve. What I actually own is the Studio E.P. That's that mystery solved then. Although it's cocked up my chronological order a bit, I guess I can live with it. Brings a new meaning to the phrase 'Bonus Track'. Nice sleeve though, made from a kind of tracing paper.
So, a correction:
Artist: A.M.P. Studio
Title: Studio EP
Format: 7" Single (clear vinyl)
Label: Colourful Clouds for Acoustics
Catalogue Number: cloud 012
Year of Release: 1997
And the sleeve should look like this:
